The Family Resource Center is a resource site for all families in Blair County. The center provides a safe, comfortable place staffed by friendly people who are sensitive and respectful to individual situations. We believe that the most effective way to ensure the healthy growth and development of children is to support parents in the most important and maybe the hardest job they will ever have: their children's first and most important teachers. |

As a Parent as Teachers (PAT) parent, you will receive personal visits, parent group meetings, screenings, and a resource network that can link your family to other community resources. Research shows that by age three, PAT children are significantly more advanced in language, social development, problem-solving, and other learning abilities than comparison children. They also score higher on kindergarten readiness tests and on standardized tests in early grades. If you would like to become part of this exciting early childhood program, call the Family Resource Center at (814) 941-7711 or use our online Contact Us Form to request more information. You can talk to one of the Parent Educators who will answer any questions you have. If you decide to join the program, you are under no obligation, and may quit at anytime. There are no income guidelines for this free program. Children must be age birth through school age and cannot be already enrolled in a comprehensive preschool program such as Head Start. |

| "When we choose to be parents, we accept another human being as part of ourselves, and a large part of our emotional selves will stay with that person as long as we live. From that time on, there will be another person on this earth whose orbit around us will affect us as surely as the moon affects the tides, and affect us in some ways more deeply than anyone else can. Our children are extensions of ourselves." -- Fred Rogers -- |
